He was born on 26 May 1990 in Lahore, Pakistan. First he belongs to the under 19 cricket team of Pakistan and after winning the under 19 cricket world cup he get an unusual fame and got a chance to perform in the National cricket of Pakistan. He is a batsman and a professional wicket keeper as well.
Umar Akmal is the youngest brother of Kamran Akmal and elder brother of Adnan Akmal; all brothers are professionally wicket keeper and batsman. Umar Akmal married happily just few years back and now he lives happily.
He started his professional career for the national cricket team of Pakistan by the debut against Srilanka in 1 August 2009. He gives debut in test match against the New Zealand on 23 November 2009. He is a right hand batsman and aggressive style player. He is the asset of Pakistani cricket team; in just first six matches he scored 248 runs in just 225 deliveries. He is a player who is responsible and well known his duties to make a match win for Pakistan. He played lots of t20 matches in which he also played very well as an young talent.
Beside his national career, he also played for local T20 matches for different cities. He also represents his presence for the county cricket. Just after his success, Umar nominated for the franchise player of inaugural Caribbean Premier league alongside with famous other Pakistani player which are Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik. He also appeared in many commercial like for Pepsi, Head n shoulder and others. He is the true rising and shining star for the cricket industry of Pakistan.
The runs didn't cease to flow for Umar Akmal, the younger brother of Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran and Adnan, in his maiden first-class season. In a triumphant 2007-08 for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Umar failed to score in his first outing but then went on to amass 855 runs from nine matches in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, at an average of 77.72 and an impressive strike-rate of 90.18. He showed a penchant for both brisk and big scoring, with knocks of 248 off 225 balls and 186 off 170. In January 2008, he was picked in Pakistan's Under-19 team for the World Cup in Malaysia. He was the leading run-getter - with 255 runs at a strike-rate of 123.18 - in a tri-nation tournament involving England and Sri Lanka in the lead-up to the World Cup. A successful tour of Australia with Pakistan A was followed up a maiden international call-up for the ODIs in Sri Lanka, and Umar started off with a half-century in his second game and a power-packed hundred in his third. A Test call-up was inevitable and he gave an optimistic glimpse into the future of Pakistan cricket, with a century on debut, under pressure followed by a string of consistent scores in New Zealand.
Interview
In an interview he said that, his biggest dream is to play cricket along with Kamran Bhai. He loves his brother as well as his whole family. Being a young player he has lot of goals to achieve in his life. He want to become the captain for the Pakistan cricket team, he also want to see International cricket in Pakistan and very upset as per the current situation of Pakistan regarding cricket. Umar Akmal family is the true assets for the cricket industry of Pakistan.
Recently
Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has been charged by Gulberg police in Lahore for allegedly misbehaving with a warden after committing a traffic violation. He has been booked under Section 186, 279 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Akmal was arrested and an FIR was registered for "obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions, rash driving or riding on a public way and assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty". He was released on "surety" bail after 12 hours in police detention but will have to appear before the Magistrate's Court.
Police said the 23-year-old Akmal did not stop at a traffic signal in the commercial Firdous market area in Lahore, and later engaged in a scuffle with a traffic warden.
